About the event

A creative workshop for adults to make a small nature inspired wall hanging. We'll take a walk around the autumnal nature reserve to get the creative juices flowing, then choose from a selection of coloured wool and foraged materials including grasses, leaves and stems and start to weave your own pattern of autumn on a mini stick loom. We'll teach you how to twist foraged materials into cordage or plaits to add texture to your design, and help you create a unique piece of art to take home. The course will start with a walk on the reserve. The weaving part of the workshop will be based in our bright classroom overlooking the meadow, and they'll be the option to take your weaving outside if the weather is suitable. The course includes hot drinks available all day and a slice of cake at morning coffee time. Please bring a packed lunch. You might like to bring a phone or camera to take pictures of the reserve for inspiration, or to bring photos of your own you'd like to use. All materials will be provided, but feel free to bring any scraps of wool you may have that you would like to include in your hanging.

We are committed to keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers safe. Please DO NOT attend if you are unwell, or testing positive for an infectious illness, such as COVID-19. Your consideration is hugely appreciated.

Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes walk from the centre.
