About the event

A special evening Teen Ranger session for 11-17 year-olds, unaccompanied.

This event will include a 45-minute talk about British bats, followed by a 45-minute walk around the reserve using bat detectors.

Teen Ranger sessions include wildlife and seasonal themed activities for teenagers to explore and engage in the great outdoors! Sessions normally run from 10am-12noon and last for 2 hours.

Over the course of a year, you can expect to:

🌳 Learn about wildlife including insects, plants, birds and mammals

🌳 Complete valuable conservation work and learn how to use tools safely

🌳 Develop bush craft skills including fire lighting and campfire cooking

This club is for children only - no adults to accompany please. A consent form must be completed and returned for each child before the session - details will be sent after booking.

We are committed to keeping our visitors, staff and volunteers safe. Please DO NOT allow your child to attend if they are unwell, or testing positive for an infectious illness, such as COVID-19. Your consideration is hugely appreciated.

Please note the centre is accessible by public transport with regular buses (including connection to Didcot Parkway railway station) serving Milton Park, a few minutes’ walk from the centre.

What to bring

The club will run outside on the reserve so please come dressed for the weather - warm clothing layers with long trousers and a waterproof on cold/wet days and sunhat/sun cream on hot days. Sturdy footwear for walking on uneven ground. A drink and snack will be provided during the session. Bringing a change of clothing may be useful on wet days. Wellies essential after rain. We do have our lovely education centre to retreat to in case of extreme weather. Further information will be sent upon booking.
