Introduction to Bats - Windsor Great Park, Wednesday 7 May
About the event
Ever wanted to learn more about the creatures of the night? Well now is your chance!
This course is aimed at beginners who are new to bats and would like to learn more about bat identification. It comprises of an hour of classroom based learning before a guided evening bat walk around a private area of the ancient woodlands of Windsor Great Park. Bat Detectors will be provided so all you need to do is come suitably dressed for the evening's weather with sturdy walking shoes and a torch. There will also be the opportunity to find out how to get more involved with bat conservation, both locally and nationally, if you wanted to.
Classroom:
- What is a bat?
- Introduction to British bat species
- Introduction to bat detectors
- How to get involved with bat conservation - locally and nationally
Outdoor session:
- Guided bat walk using bat detectors
- Basic intro to local bats and tips on identification
- Identifying a good bat walk route
- Health and safety tips

This session is for adults but older teenage children are welcome if accompanied by an adult
