A generous and far-sighted grant from The National Lottery Heritage Fund has provided much-needed support across the breadth of our activities in a challenging year. Made possible by National Lottery players, the grant was awarded through the Heritage Emergency Fund and has enabled us to quickly adapt our activities affected by the unprecedented impact of the coronavirus outbreak.
The grant has made a real difference to our frontline activities, providing the equipment that enabled the COVID-safe re-opening of our education centres and cafés. Jo Thrussell at the Nature Discovery Centre reports:
“The National Lottery Heritage Fund grant has allowed us to continue operating our takeaway café at the NDC. We have sourced a protective screen to enclose our serving hatch, allowing our staff and customers to converse safely, as well as patio screens to protect the customers from the wind and rain as they are enjoying their cappuccinos. This has ensured steady customer numbers throughout the autumn, even when the weather has been troublesome! We are massively grateful to the Heritage Emergency Fund for their support during this difficult period.”
