Green Christmas Tree Sale - Caversham Court, Saturday 7 December
Event details
About the event
Lowland Heath is a rare habitat across Europe, and most of it is in the UK. We are lucky to have good examples in our area including the SPA near Crowthorne. However, too many trees on heathland shades out the essential heather. and drains some of the wetland so they need to be removed. We cut and sell some of these unwanted Scots Pine and raise money for reserve management.
Scots Pine have less dense foliage than the standard Norway Spruce, but they smell great and never drop their needles.
The "Green Christmas" theme is continued with wreaths and stars, holly, ornamental willow, pine cones and other natural decorations for sale as well as Fair Trade goods; an RSPB stall with cards and calendars as well as bird boxes and bird food; honey and candles from local beekeepers; and woodworker's artefacts giving a wide range of options for environmentally friendly Christmas presents.
