Get started with 30 Days Wild
The Wildlife Trusts' 30 Days Wild challenge starts today - do one wild thing every day during June!
Don't worry if you don't know where to begin. We've got 10 wild ideas to kick off the challenge. And if you've not yet signed up, you can still sign up here and join the fun.
1. Eat a meal outside. What can be better than having a meal, snack or even just a drink outside? Listen to the birdsong, feel the grass beneath your feet, watch the butterflies float by. Everything tastes better when it's accompanied by a little bit of nature!
2. Go on a mini safari in your garden or local park. Take a closer look at the plants around you and see how many minibeasts you can see. Tree shaking is a really easy way to discover minibeasts living in your garden or local green space, and you don't need much equipment. Charlotte shows you how!
3. Watch a webcam on a rainy day. It might not be sunny every day during June but that doesn't stop the wildlife at College Lake nature reserve. See what's going on with our webcam overlooking the lake.
4. Make a log pile in your garden. It's a great addition for all sorts of wildlife and is as simple as gathering up bits of dead wood into a pile. Find out more from Ben.
5. Sign our campaign to give better protection to the wildlife we all love. It only takes 30 seconds to add your name and show that you want better for nature too.
6. Listen to birdsong. How many different birds can you hear near you? Don't worry about trying to work out what they all are, just enjoy nature's soundtrack. Here are 10 commons birds that might visit your garden. How many can you spot?
7. Feel the grass beneath your feet. Walking barefoot is good for you! Take off your socks and shoes and reconnect with the earth.
8. Lie back and look at the clouds. Take a moment to relax and watch the clouds drift by. See what natural things you can hear and smell while you do.
9. Smell a flower. Which smell good and which don't have such a nice smell? Here are 10 flowers you might spot during the summer. You can find more in our species explorer.
10. Follow a bee. Watch bees buzz from flower to flower. Why do they spend longer at some than others? Which plants do they visit? Take a moment to immerse yourself in the bee's world. Here are some great plants for pollinators to add to your garden.
